She said, ” I don’t know how she does it all. I feel like such a failure when I see what she’s able to do in one day.”
I couldn’t speak for the woman she was talking about. Maybe I only knew her personal struggles and she didn’t.
But it made me think about how other women might view me. I never want to give the impression that I have it all together. Because trust me when I say that I don’t. If you follow me on Instagram Stories you see both the “good” and “bad” moments of my day. I do that on purpose so that you don’t ever feel like you’re alone. I’m trying to figure it out just as much as you are. I think most of us are, we’re just too scared to admit it.
So I beg you for the sake of your sanity, emotional health, and well being….please stop comparing yourself. When you compare yourself you create negative thoughts.
Can you be better? Yes.
Can you be cleaner? Yes.
Can you find time for yourself? Of course!
Can you be a better friend, wife or mother? Absolutely yes!
But that won’t happen if you’re carrying around guilt and shame for your CURRENT situation. Those are heavy emotions that won’t ever create the right environment to be willing to learn or grow. You are doing your absolutely best considering your current knowledge, conditions, talents, support, energy, and financial situation. THAT’S what matters! That you’re doing your BEST every single day to do what you can. That’s what makes you a badass.
So what can you do RIGHT now to change how you feel even though your situation won’t magically change?
- First, if you believe, pray. Put your mind at ease by thanking God for all the things you ARE thankful for.
- Second of all, if you can’t be happy for someone else get off IG or FB. If that’s your struggle, remove yourself from it.
- Most importantly, focus on what you have the ability to improve while CHOOSING to be joyful in your existing body, home, financial situation, medical condition, etc.
If you practice doing those 3 things consistently things become much easier to change! That’s for sure.
